Mezzo-Soprano Sarabeth Belón is a native of San Diego, California and has already been distinguished by her voice with the “color and character that is distinctive and memorable” and the “sweet-toned and well-focused” sound. Belón sings regularly with the San Diego Opera Chorus. Her most notable engagements with San Diego Opera are performing the Handmaiden in Turandot and Madama in Maria de Buenos Aires. She was a two-time Encouragement Award recipient of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions San Diego District. This past fall, Belón sang with the San Diego Opera in their production of Aida. Prior to that engagement, she sang the role of Olga in Opera NEO’s production of Eugene Onegin.
Other notable stage credits include Marcelina (Le nozze di Figaro) with Center Stage Opera, Armindo (Partenope) with Opera NEO, Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos) with the Miami Music Festival, Dorabella cover (Così fan tutte) with Opera NEO, and Rebecca Nurse (The Crucible) with the Miami Music Festival. Belón currently is a staff singer with the Long Beach Camerata Singers and teaches Voice out of her home in Los Angeles. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance from UCLA.
