Blair Salter

Conductor

Canadian collaborative pianist Blair Salter is a versatile performer and music director who has worked at prestigious opera companies and young artist programs throughout the United States and Canada. Blair is currently Head Coach for LA Opera's Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program and music staff at Wolf Trap Opera. In addition to her role as Head Coach, Blair works on the music staff at LAO as an assistant conductor, prompter, and pianist. She has previously served as music staff at Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Opera Colorado, and Michigan Opera Theatre. Blair made her conducting debut at Lyric Opera of Kansas City in 2025; she was a conductor at The Dallas Opera’s Hart Institute for Women Conductors in 2023, and Music Director for Opera Theatre at Penn State University from 2021-23. An advocate of contemporary music, Blair is the creator of the aria database Voce Moderna, and has worked on numerous operatic world premieres. She is a graduate of the Houston Grand Opera Studio, Merola Opera Program, Wolf Trap Opera, and the Glimmerglass Festival. She completed her DMA at the University of Michigan, where she studied with Martin Katz.
