Janet Todd
Soprano
Janet Szepei Todd an Australian soprano based in Los Angeles. During her time in the US, Janet completed her Master of Music at the Manhattan School of Music, and has since performed with companies across the US, including Los Angeles Opera, Opera Columbus, Pacific Opera Project, Washington Concert Opera, and New York Opera Projects. She has also been involved in many concert and new music works across the country.
Janet is no stranger to POP, having performed in the title role of POP’s 2019 bilingual Japanese/English production of Madama Butterfly. With the company, she also performed Mimi in La Boheme, and YumYum in The Mikado. Other highlights include Cio-Cio San in Madama Butterfly with Opera Columbus, Soprano Soloist in Mahler’s Symphony of a Thousand with New York Oratorio Society, and involvement in new music and chamber works through various organizations. Janet is a current member of the LA Opera Chorus.
Janet’s career began in Melbourne, Australia with Victorian Opera, where she made her debut as Pamina in The Magic Flute. With VO, she also performed Liesgen in Bach’s Coffee Cantata, and Prince Charming’ in Richard Gill’s Cinderella. With Opera Australia, Janet reprised the role of Pamina. She joined two tours with Opera Australia as ‘Zerlina’ and ‘Donna Elvira’ in Don Giovanni. Janet has enjoyed performing with Sydney’s Pinchgut Opera as ‘Miss Hawk’ in Salieri’s The Chimney Sweep and ‘Zelmira’ in Haydn’s Armida.
Janet has also performed as a soprano soloist with The Australian Ballet, Sydney Philharmonia, Perth Symphonic Choir, Canberra Choral Society, as well as other organisations throughout Australia. She is thrilled to be back performing with Pacific Opera Project.
