Fran Daniel Laucerica

Cuban American tenor Fran Daniel Laucerica has been praised for his clarity, agility, and musical versatility on the operatic and concert stages. His

performances showcase his “sweetly shining tenor” and “heroic vocal intensity,” as noted by Opera Today and Pittsburgh Quarterly, respectively. Fran is a 2025-26 Emerging Artist with Opera Philadelphia. This season he performs Bach's B minor Mass with the Austin Philharmonie, Madison Bach Musicians, and the Conejo Valley Choral Society, Florville in Il Signor Bruschino and the Jazz Trio Tenor in Trouble in Tahiti with Amelia Island Opera, Elder Hayes in Susannah with Opera Omaha, Nanki-Poo in The Mikado with First Coast Opera and covers the role of The Stranger in

Sleepers Awake with Opera Philadelphia. He joins Lyric Fest in concert for Benjamin

Franklin - Printer, and appears with Raylynmor Opera as Basilio/Don Curzio in Le

nozze di Figaro. The artist’s 2026–27 season engagements include Washington

Concert Opera as Rinaldo in Armida, Pacific Opera Project as Il tenente Euduardo in I

Fortunato Inganno, Variant 6/Tempesta da Mare in a holiday concert, Curlew River

with 3000 Hz Opera lab, and The Crossing.

In 2025, Fran made several role and company debuts. At Opera Philadelphia he was

heard as Don Lugino in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims and covered Conte di Libenskof

and Chevalier Belfiore, joined Pittsburgh Opera as Thomas for the premiere of Woman With Eyes Closed, and Washington Concert Opera proudly presented him as Pylade in Iphigénie en Tauride. Recent operatic highlights featured him as Il Conte d'Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Pittsburgh Opera and First Coast Opera, Beppe in Pagliacci with The Glimmerglass Festival and Pittsburgh Opera, and Rinaldo in Armida with Pittsburgh Opera. He also covered Goro in Madama Butterfly with Pittsburgh Opera and Adolfo Pirelli in Sweeney Todd with Wolf Trap Opera.

As a concert soloist, Laucerica has showcased his versatility in a range of works,

including performances of Bach's Christmas Oratorio and St. Matthew Passion with Madison Bach Musicians, Orff's Carmina Burana with the Lexington Symphony, and

Handel's Messiah with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra. A passionate advocate of

new music, the artist has premiered works by such notable composers as Samuel Carl Adams with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's MusicNOW Initiative and David Lang with the Bienen Contemporary Vocal Ensemble.

Fran Daniel Laucerica is an alumnus of several esteemed young artist programs

including Pittsburgh Opera, The Glimmerglass Festival, Virginia Opera, and Wolf Trap

Opera. He is the recipient of an Encouragement Award from the Metropolitan Opera

Laffont Competition and won Third Prize in the 2023 Handel Aria Competition. He

graduated from Boston Conservatory with a Master’s degree in Opera Performance

and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University.
