Nathan Bowles
Tenor
Nathan Bowles, tenor, is a versatile artist praised for his “flawless vocal technique” and a voice “without dross.” Based in Los Angeles, he is quickly establishing himself as a compelling presence on operatic stages across the country.
Bowles made his mainstage debut with The Dallas Opera as Benvolio in Roméo et Juliette, and has also appeared with the company’s outreach program as Miguel in Offenbach’s Pépito and Dandini in The Billy Goats Gruff. He debuted with LA Opera as Benvolio and has since returned as the Bullfighter in Ainadamar and Borsa in Rigoletto. This year, he made his Tulsa Opera debut as Don José in The Tragedy of Carmen. Recent summer engagements include performances with The Santa Fe Opera as the Animal Tamer and Waiter 2 in Der Rosenkavalier.
Other operatic credits include Don José in Carmen, John Styx in Orpheus in the Underworld, the Baker in Into the Woods, and Alfred in Die Fledermaus with Western Plains Opera. With SMU’s Meadows Lyric Theatre, he appeared as the Male Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia and Judge Danforth in The Crucible.
Bowles is a 2024 National Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. Bowles is a recipient of the 2024 Richard F. Gold Career Grant. Concert appearances include Opera in the Park with Palm Springs Opera Guild, Vaughan Williams’ Hodie, Hailstork’s I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes, and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Gala.
Bowles is a graduate of Minot State University and holds a Master of Music degree from Southern Methodist University.
