William Jacobson

Hailing from the small town of Ada, Minnesota, baritone William Jacobson is excited to be making his POP debut this season as Papageno in the touring production of "Superflute" as well covering the role of Anthony Hope in Sweeney Todd and singing the role of Rabonnier in La rondine. Will is a second-year master’s student at the USC Thornton School of Music where he studies Vocal Arts under the instruction of Professor Lynn Helding.In his first year at USC, Will performed the role of Harašta in Leoš Janàček’s The Cunning Little Vixen and sang as part of their scenes program. Other operatic credits include Papa Bear in Jonathan Stinson’s The Three Bears and the titular role in the premiere of Doug Harbin’s chamber opera Red’s Diner. He has also performed as a featured soloist with The Fargo Moorhead Choral Artists, The Concordia Orchestra, The Concordia Choir, and The Fargo Moorhead Opera International Dinner series. Having graduated with a degree in Vocal Music Education from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, Will’s musical resume spans several musical disciplines. Will began his musical studies at the piano, which he studied through his senior year at Concordia. Before moving to Los Angeles, he served as the choir accompanist at a local church and worked as a freelance pianist in the greater Fargo Moorhead area. He has also held positions directing handbell choirs for many years; he has arranged a number of pieces for his ensembles, and finds great joy in creating opportunities for people of all ability levels to find success and joy in community music making.In addition to his current studies, Will serves as Minister of Music and Organist at St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Long Beach, where he directs the Canterbury Choir.
